Advertising and e-commerce such as banner adds, pop-ups, sale of products, pre-roll video ads and other advertising formats are used by almost every news organization. Public broadcasters are sponsored by their mother-organization; non-profit organizations (like Amnesty International, universities, governments) provide news on their websites. Few news organizations can rely on subscription as the main source of revenue, except for specialized (financial) news providers.
